“Nothing is worth more than this day.“ – Goethe
Today is the day. I will step out on faith. I will do that thing I’ve been afraid to do.
I’ve been waiting on a sign. Like Moses had when he was walking along and came upon a bush that was burning but not consumed. God said “Take off your shoes for you are standing on holy ground.” That I could imagine and understand. Or when Jesus is getting baptized and a voice from heaven booms: “This is my son and I am well pleased.” This I understood so I kept waiting for a holy shoe, some smoke, a roar of thunder, something – anything that might move me forward. I finally realized that God was getting my attention but through quiet, subtle ways. Here’s what I heard:
“Spread your wings, I will do the rest!” I did the Gallup Strengths Finder survey recently and it helped me discover what I’m really good at – as usual, there were no surprises but I was still reluctant to soar without a charred bush or two. God and my coach Meagan gently reminded me that I had to trust my faith and boldly step out—actually practice what I’d been preaching. Meagan said “you’ve been preparing long enough–maybe you’re calling you” to follow your dreams and be audacious and bodacious. She said “exploit your strengths and the things you’re confident about.” So, today I’m ready to conquer and soar!
“Humility and kindness matter.” I was listening to Country Radio and superstar Tim McGraw’s “Humble and Kind,” and the lyrics whispered: “I know you got mountains to climb but always stay humble and kind. When those dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you, when the work you put in is realized, let yourself feel the pride but always stay humble and kind. When you get where you’re going don’t forget to turn back around and help the next one in line and always be humble and kind.” I thought about all the people (like you) who pray for, believe in, and encourage me daily, and I know when we do this for each other, there’s no limit to what we can do and where we can go. So, today remember to care for and encourage someone and always be humble and kind.
Refuse to live with fear for it will paralyze you and much of what you have been called to do won’t and can’t be done. Listen for God’s whisper—it serves the same purpose as burning bushes and holy shoes. Trust God and your heart for direction–wherever you’re going, God is already there. Be courageous and live mightily for today is yours–make it count!
Be blessed and keep shining!
